- FLOPPY.BAT was written for users of DOS 5.0 to make formatting floppies
- as easy as typing in the command FLOPPY.
-
- System Requirements: Hard Drive
- DOS 5.0 /ANSI.SYS loaded
- CGA/EGA/VGA Monitor
- * Users without a Color Monitor read Whatsnew.txt
-
-
- The program FLOPPY, lets you choose, which:
-
- DRIVE...........(A/B)
- DISK SIZE.......360k/720k/1.2MB/1.44MB/2.88MB
- TYPE of FORMAT..SYSTEM/NEW/QUICK/SAFE
-
- First off, I wrote it for DOS 5.0, if 5.0 is not installed it will
- tell you so and EXIT!
-
- I also threw in some ANSI color, (no sense in everyone buying nice
- CGA/EGA/VGA monitors, and having to settle for mono programs, eh?).
- So FLOPPY checks to see if you have ANSI.SYS loaded on your machine,
- if not, it will tell you so and EXIT!
-
- If you don't have ANSI.SYS loaded, edit your CONFIG.SYS and add:
-
- DEVICE={drive}:\{path}\ANSI.SYS
- example: DEVICE=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS
-
-
-
- !!! IMPORTANT !!! !!! IMPORTANT !!! !!! IMPORTANT !!!
- ===================================================================
- FLOPPY.BAT <===
- RR.EXE <=== These files MUST be placed in your C:\DOS directory.
- IF you put them anywhere else, you will need to
- edit FLOPPY.BAT to cd\ to the proper directory.
- FLOP.SCR <=== (Best place c:\DOS)
- ===================================================================
-
- _IF_ it doesn't PERFORM !!! Probable - CAUSES & SOLUTIONS
-
- # FLOPPY.BAT should be called from the DOS command line, NOT from
- a shell program (Xtree,DOSSHELL, etc.)
-
- # Your DOS copy of FORMAT.COM has been renamed to something else.
- You can edit FLOPPY.BAT on the line where FORMAT.COM
- is used, and insert whatever name your FORMAT.COM has
- been changed to.
-
-
- FLOPPY.BAT is Freeware! (Although a donation of $5.00 would gladly
- be accepted)
- It may be copied and distributed only
- as Freeware! All I _DEMAND_ is the original files are included
- in unaltered form;
- * FLOPPY.BAT
- * RR.EXE
- * FLOPPY.DOC
- * FLOP.SCR
- * FLOP.ASC
- ===================================================================
- Since this is Freeware, and I wrote it for grins, there are no
- WARRANTIES and I assume NO responsiblity thereafter, with it's use.
- ===================================================================
- Now that is said I can say I've tested it out on several machines
- Tandy 1000sl /Northgate 386 /IBM 486 and I found no problems.
- It behaved properly, if DOS 5.0 & ANSI.SYS aren't found it
- tells you so and exits gracefully.
-
- That's it, give it a try and if you run into any snags I'd
- like to know about it! You can leave a message to:
-
- Ron Sutterfield on > EXEC-PC BBS (414)789-4360
- or my own, > Ron's Roost BBS (517)851-7762
- 2531 Dexter Trail
- Dansville, MI 48819
-
- Now go format a floppy!
-
- And if your formatting a previously formatted disk try the
- [Q]uick Option you'll like the speed!
